Jujutsu Kaisen (呪じゅ術じゅつ廻かい戦せん Jujutsu Kaisen?) is a manga written and illustrated by Gege Akutami. Since March 2018, it has been serialized in Shueisha’s shunen manga magazine Weekly Shunen Jump, and as of July 2023, its chapters have been compiled and released in 23 tankbon volumes. The narrative centers on high school student Yuji Itadori as he joins a clandestine group of Jujutsu sorcerers to combat Ryomen Sukuna, a potent Curse of which Yuji becomes the host. Akutami’s Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School sequel, Jujutsu Kaisen, was serialized in Shueisha’s Jump GIGA from April to July 2017. It was then collected in a tank-bon volume, which was given the retroactive title Jujutsu Kaisen 0, in December 2018.
Viz Media has the rights to release Jujutsu Kaisen in English in North America. The manga has been printed since December 2019. The series is published in English by Shueisha on the Manga Plus website. Ballad Kitaguni published two books in May 2019 and January 2020, respectively. From October 2020 to March 2021, MBS broadcast a 24-episode version of an anime television series created by MAPPA; a second season debuted in July 2023. Crunchyroll has obtained the rights to stream the anime outside of Asia, and the English dubbed version will debut in November 2020. The original soundtrack for the anime was made available in April 2021.
One of the most popular manga series of all time, Jujutsu Kaisen has sold over 80 million copies by July 2023, including Jujutsu Kaisen 0, digital editions, and associated novels.
